The Affordable Housing Project, a development with 98 hectares in area, is to provide housing opportunities for tens of thousands of mid-level income families in the heart of Dubailand. Offering a variety of land uses, the development will provide a fully independent and livable community. The site will include several community facilities, commercial, retail and a significant residential element within generous landscaped open spaces. The development’s total built up area is 791,000 square meters. The concept master plan options including concept road and infrastructure master plan design was undertaken and this entailed the preparation of road hierarchy, road cross sections, external road network and grading analysis.
In addition, preparation of the concept infrastructure and utilities design for the development including services such as storm water drainage, sewerage, irrigation, potable water, street lighting, electrical, and telecom-munication networks was completed. Coordination with the local district cooling system provider was made throughout the development of the concept master plan. Detailed design of the roads and infrastructure for the development will be undertaken by Crown Consult in the next stage of the project.
An internal Traffic Study for the concept master plan of the development was also prepared; no authorities’ approvals were obtained.
